Castles in the snow

I suppose that if we lived in California, we might make sandcastles at the end of November. But, we live in Saskatchewan...so we make snowcastles!

These photos (along with the ones that I posted on the weekend) were taken on Saturday afternoon in our backyard. Rick and Matthew were outside (Rick thought he could put up the Christmas lights and watch Matthew and the same time- he couldn't) so instead they made that fabulous snowman. They looked like they were having so much fun and it was so nice out, Caleb and I just had to join them.

Matthew wanted to play in his sandbox, but instead he took his pail and made snowcastles with daddy. He had so much fun! And Caleb enjoyed the fresh air and the view from his snugli.

I also, just have to post this photo of Matthew that I took a couple weeks ago (the first time it snowed). Just when I thought his chubby baby cheeks were gone....

Is it just me, or does this hat accentuate his chubby cheeks?!?

Snowman

Oh to be 29 again...

Today Matthew is 29.
29 months that is... (not quite 2 and a half)

Here are some random things about him at 29 months:

1) He is the puzzle-master! He loves doing puzzles and has just graduated to big-boy puzzles (the cardboard ones with about 15 pieces as opposed to the wooden ones)

2) Thomas dvd's are still the best and his favourite thing to do is listen to the "Fergus song" and dance around the room. He cracks us up.

3) He is easily bribed by Halloween candy. This has come in very handy in our efforts to work on potty training.

4) He was sick so much this fall and he now has been healthy for a few weeks. We are enjoying having our happy boy back. It's no fun being sick and he is in a much better mood when he's not coughing and sneezing.

5) It is so funny to watch him interact with his baby brother. Whenever Caleb babbles "dadada", Matthew always lets him know what his daddy is doing "Dada is at work, Caleb" , " Dada is in the shower, Caleb" or " Dada is sitting right beside you, Caleb".

Hey, little guy! I think you might be teething!

If Caleb could talk this is how he would respond:

What gave it away mom?

The constant drool?

Everything in my mouth?

The frequent night waking? (understatement)

My soggy shirts?

No teeth yet...I'll keep everyone posted.

A new Thomas story

Thomas saves Christmas.

Matthew totally LOVES Thomas the Tank Engine. LOVES him. So Grandma made up a story to keep him happy the other day. Something about Thomas delivering Christmas gifts to all the children. Boy did she ever have Matthew's attention.

Well, now tonight before falling asleep, Matthew tells me that at Christmas time, Thomas is going to bring him a present. He thinks it will be Henry (a train)!

Things I need to teach Matthew:
1) difference between fiction and nonfiction
2) SANTA brings toys, not Thomas
3) the real meaning of Christmas!

I also may have to go out and buy him Henry for Christmas!

What's next? Grandma telling him the story about Mary & Joseph taking the train to Bethlehem!
