a quick hello

Just stopping in for a quick hello! I go back to work this afternoon and the kids start school on Wednesday. Matthew also starts school on Wednesday and Caleb starts preschool next Tuesday.

We have been very busy. We have enjoyed the last little bit of summer holidays.

Matthew on the bars at the park:

Caleb feeding the ducks at the park (and then deciding he needed a little snack himself-don't worry, it's not stale)

Some more funny things that Caleb has done lately:

- He asked, "If I get a broken leg, will all of my food fall out of me?"

- He claims that he wants to be Santa Claus when he grows up. When asked why, he says "because of the boots".

* I hope to take some photos of my new classroom soon and post them up here too. I even sewed curtains to cover my storage shelves. (I told you I was busy!)

zippered pouch

Well, I finished my embroidery. I got the pattern from Doodle-stitching and I like how it turned out. I definitely need to work on my stitching skills, but it was a fun first project.

So what to do with a piece of embroidery? (is that what you call it? 'a piece of embroidery?')

Pull out Bend the Rules Sewing and make a zippered pouch,of course! Also remember that my sewing skills are at the beginner level.

Ta da!

why?

Why do I stay up so late? When will I learn?
Oh well, at least I made some cute Christmas-y coasters:

a post with no photos :(

I have having some trouble with my camera, so this will be a post with no photos.

Matthew started back at preschool yesterday. It is amazing what a difference a year makes. He is just so much more confident and excited than he was last year.

I also whipped up a few sewing projects. I made a home for my cell phone (thanks susanna). I also tried a reversible journal cover, which turned out kind of neat. (this is where some photos would be nice...)

I got my haircut on Monday. You'll just have to imagine what it looks like. :)

Faye and Maya fly in tonight for a nice little visit. We can't wait to see them again!

And that's the latest around here.

Special thanks to my assistant photographer, Matthew :)

learned

These are the things I've learned in the last little bit:

- I learned how to wind a bobbin.

- I learned how to thread my sewing machine.

- I learned how to make this cute drawstring bag.

- I learned not to take two boys to the fabric store right before suppertime.

- I learned how to make this headband!
